Historical Postcards

A set of five postcards featuring pictures of Alta in times past is available for purchase through the Alta Historical Society. Inquiries may be addressed to Claire Runge at (801)363-5105.

Alta Historical Society Exhibit

The AHS has an exhibit in the Alta Community Center/Library of antique skis, old photos, documents, records, newspapers, and historical videos. Videos include Alf Engen: An American Ski Legend; Margie of the Wasatch; Ski; Alf – Ski Meister of the Twentieth Century; Parachutists on Skis; The Deseret News Ski School Utah Skisport Legacy; Ski Aces; For the Love of Skiing; A Little Snow Begins to Fall; Alta, 40 years; and interviews with Alta “citizens” of times past and present. A display cabinet holds three-dimensional objects from Alta’s mining days and early ski years. Additionally AHS has videos made from 10,000 feet of film footage of the early days of skiing at Alta. These videos are available for viewing by appointment. During the winter, the AHS exhibit is open to the public Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6-9 P.M. and by appointment. Occasionally the AHS display may be removed to accommodate art exhibits.
