Brian K. Jones

Brian K. Jones is a ski instructor with the Alf Engen Ski School, a consulting geologist and outdoor Brian Joneswriter.  A graduate in geology from Stanford University in 1973, Brian received his Master's Degree in geology from the University of Alaska in 1976.  He has worked as a consulting geologist for over thirty years.  This work has taken him to some of the most remote places in North and South America.

Brian joined the Alta team in 2000 and, at Alta, he combines his passion for skiing, the outdoors and geology with his interest in people.  He has become a dedicated student of the geology and history of the Wasatch Mountains and presents slide shows and workshops on these subjects.  He also includes these elements in his ski instruction.  Brian has published over two dozen outdoor and scientific articles and is a frequent contributor to Rocky Mountain Game & Fish Magazine. 

Brian lives at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon with is wife, Barbara.  He has three grown sons and a grandson.
